‘Belly Breathing’ Record & Reflect Sheet age 9-11

Following on from our ‘Belly Breathing’ video or script (which can be purchased on this website), use this ‘Record & Reflect’ sheet to do exactly that!

The children have to answer questions about what happens in the ‘Belly Breathing’ practice and it gives them 5 spaces to record how easy they found it, what aspects they found challenging and how they felt afterwards. They can also colour in the belly balloon to show how they visualised theirs.

Educators – It allows you to see what information the pupils have learnt and any misconceptions that can then be addressed and it gives you an insight into their emotions and internal state of being. If they found the practice particularly challenging, this may be because they are overwhelmed with strong emotions or lots of thoughts or worries. It may be worth practising this technique with them in a small intervention group and doing it more regularly.

This digital download will be sent to your email address.

The ‘Record & Reflect’ sheet can be used by the whole class after each practice, or in a small group/1:1 with pupil(s) that may have difficulties concentrating, poor mental health and/or emotional issues. (Please remember to make these groups super flexible as someone may have strong worries and emotions one day and none the next).

You could also print our ‘Belly Breathing’ independent practice card to store in a ‘calm corner’ of your classroom for children to access whenever they feel the need (available on this website).
